So, here comes the sewing machine cover pattern:

Required Material:

  • The fabric you want to use as your machine cover.
  • Matching thread.
  • Iron and ironing board.
  • Scissors.
  • Inches-tape.
  • Fusible or sew-in interfacing ( only if you want).
  • Plus, the extra accessories you may require to mark the dimensions.

Method:

Before we get to the method of sewing a sewing machine cover I would like to mention that you can have your bias tape so that you do not face any difficulty while making the piping, binding seams, or finishing the raw edges of your sewing machine cover. With that being said, you can make DIY bias tape or else purchase it.

Now, let’s get back to the method of making a sewing machine cover.

Here we go:

Step#1: Take the measurements of your sewing machine with the help of measuring tape. Keep in mind to measure the following things:

  • Height
  • Width
  • Depth
  • Length

Step#2: Cut the pieces of fabric according to the measurements taken. You will be having around five pieces of cloth including cover piece and lining piece to stitch together like a machine cover.

Step#3: Now, the total pieces of fabric that should comprise the main cover, sides, pocket, and handle opening, should be cut from the base fabric and fuse the interfacing from the wrong side.

Step#4: Starting from the pocket, get straight to create the binding and end up at placing the pocket above the main cover.

Step#4: Now, you need to stick together the main cover with the sides of the fabric. And for that purpose, you first need to know where to baste the stitches. Just add two parallel rows of basting stitches to the main cover where it will meet the curved side of the cover. Having done that, sew the sides and pull the thread to gather the basting stitches.

Step#5: Repeat the same thing with the other curved side of the cover. As for the handle, you need to put the cover on the machine and mark the exact point where you want its handle to be. Pin the edges and sew them gently with a customized opening at the top for easy handling.

Step#6: In the end, just apply the bias type or any other stuff you want to, on your sewing machine cover and make it look more attractive.

So, this was all about the major steps to be followed while making a sewing machine cover for your favorite appliance. Follow these steps and make an easy and attractive covering for your sewing machine.
